Welcome to Kamnik 2025 Block Party!
In 2022, we have invited you to our bustling capital city. This year, it is time to experience “small-town Slovenia.” Come to Kamnik, a charming medieval town and one of Slovenian geocaching hotspots, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the game on Saturday, 20. September, 2025. Explore the rich historical, cultural and natural heritage of the Kamnik area from cache to cache. Meet old and new geocaching friends at the Block Party event on Saturday and many side events from Thursday to Sunday. Let us know that you are coming by logging Will Attend early. In Slovenia, we love events and can’t wait to welcome you again.
Block Party (main) event
Castle Zaprice, Saturday, 20. September, from 10.00 to 16.00

Event grounds
The main event will be taking place in and around the Zaprice castle. An 18th-century baroque manor, built on a promontory overlooking the Kamnik old town, hosts the exhibitions and offices of the Inter-municipal Museum Kamnik since 1961.
The manor is home to permanent exhibitions of the museum that, among other topics, highlight the life in the city of Kamnik and its surroundings from the first known paleontological findings, the first settlements, and the formation of the town until the 19th century, life in the Kamnik Mountains, everyday life of the Kamnik bourgeoisie in the 19th century and production of Thonet’s bentwood furniture in Kamnik.
The castle grounds (and adjacent granary plateau) will provide the area to collect the event badge and event store orders, relax with drinks and snacks (provided by our catering partners), meet the geocaching friends, hang out with Signal the Frog®, sign the logbook, exchange trackables, and engage in other common event activities.
Activities
We are creating a program of various activities, some focused on 25 years of geocaching. We expect it to be finalized several weeks before the start of the event. A Lab Adventure will guide visitors to the highlights of the permanent exhibition in the museum. There will be other Lab adventures to play at the event grounds, puzzles, workshops, raffle with geocaching prizes and other fun activities. A circular geoart trail is planned with the final locations along the forest trails that extend above the castle. Signal the Frog® will be attending the event!
Admission to all event activities and museum exhibitions is free. Additional activities (like guided museum or old town tours) will be available at a fee, paid directly to the provider.
Access(ibility)
Kamnik is a small town where everything is within walking distance. Zaprice castle is just a short walk from the old town, parking, two train stations (Kamnik and Kamnik mesto) and Kamnik bus stations. It’s a prominent landmark above the old town, reached by a short walk uphill. There is no parking directly at the castle. Access by car will be limited to organisers and service vehicles (visitors with physical disabilities should contact us to arrange access).
The museum has an induction loop installed for visitors with hearing impairments. Visitors with visual impairments can navigate the space using tactile floor markings, and there are replicas of selected museum objects to be examined by touch. Additionally, short exhibition descriptions are available in braille. Only the ground floor of the exhibition rooms and museum shop are accessible to disabled visitors.
Dogs are allowed to the event grounds, including the museum, but be mindful that the exhibition rooms might be crowded.

Geocaching in Kamnik area
Geocaching is arguably the best way to explore the Kamnik area. Number collectors, icon runners (no extremes, but 10 types in a day should be fairly easy for anyone), cherry pickers or social butterflies, there is something for everyone.
There are caches of all standard types (including the first Wherigo cache in Slovenia) and three adventures waiting in the town within walking distance of the main event grounds. You will most likely bag a few finds by the time you get from parking to the main event.
Beyond the town, there are easy trails in the hills above Kamnik and along the Kamniška Bistrica river. The more adventurous will venture to explore the natural beauty of Kamniška bistrica valley or Velika planina plateau, or even hike to geocaches high in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
And our orga-team is already supercharged with new ideas that will come to life by the time of the event.
Visit Kamnik
Visiting the Kamnik area as a geocacher is one of the best ways to explore it. There are geocaches placed at most, if not all main attractions and hidden gems (and we will ensure that any blank spots are covered by the time of the event).
Kamnik is just a short drive from Ljubljana, Kranj or the airport and connected to the capital by public transport (buses or trains to Ljubljana central station). If you come by car, look for one of many smaller parking lots within walking distance of the event grounds (the event is not park and grab, but you can geocache your way to it).
There are many cafes and restaurants in the city and its surroundings where you can taste local dishes or stop for a quick bite. Popular local craft breweries will be hard to miss.
For accommodation, check the tourist office suggestions or book on standard platforms. You can consider booking all the way towards Komenda, Mengeš, Domžale or even east side of Ljubljana as Kamnik is just a short drive away. Camping is located within walking distance of the Kamnik old town.
In addition to geocaching, the Visit Kamnik website is a great starting point for planning your visit.
